The situation influences regulatory bodies to update a few immigration regulations to ensure the business can be conducted conveniently. Indonesia is one of the countries that will reinstate the validity of a Multiple Entry Business Visa (MEBV). Multiple Entry Business Visa Trial Validity Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration stated that on November 22nd, 2022, the country is opening a trial window for opening the MEBV application. During the pandemic, the Indonesian government only allowed the use of Single-Entry Business Visas (SBV). Compared to the Multiple-Entry Business Visa (MEBV), the SBV is only valid for up to 60 days. Although the SBV permit is extendable up to 3 times, the MEBV gives more flexibility to entrepreneurs in doing business abroad, such as in Indonesia. In the current update, the trial phase of MEBV will grant foreigners to obtain one year of visa validity. Although the MEBV offers a longer validity period, foreigners can only stay in Indonesia for 60 days per visit. They must exit the country first and re-enter Indonesia using the same visa if still required to be in Indonesia. Multiple-Entry Business Visa Requirements In the trial phase, foreigners who want to obtain a MEBV must comply with the requirements of the Indonesian government. First, foreigners should understand that MEBV holders are not allowed to work or perform any activities that generate income in Indonesia. Current Multiple-Entry Business Visa regulations imposed that only Singapore citizens or foreigners who have permanent resident status in Singapore that can apply. Furthermore, applicants must hold a minimum of 18 months of passport validity before processing the application. Other than the passport, foreigners are also required to provide the following documents: A sponsor letter from a guarantor or companies in Indonesia Bank account statements or proof of deposit with a minimum balance of USD 2,000 or equal in other currencies Return flight booking Latest digital photo (max. taken in last three months) with solid white background Proof of Covid-19 vaccination (full doses) Proof of health insurance (this can be replaced by travel insurance or a statement letter of willingness to handle medical costs independently) The MEBV holder can only enter and exit Indonesia via Batam only. However, the expatriate can travel around Indonesia once they arrive. Where To Enter and Exit Indonesia As mentioned above, foreigners who hold the Multiple-Entry Business Visa can only enter and exit through the Batam area.
